About Inglewood

Inglewood, located in the vibrant South Bay area of Los Angeles County, is known for its rich cultural diversity and strong community spirit. With neighborhoods like Morningside Park and Century Heights, residents enjoy a mix of single-family homes, duplexes, and apartments. The close-knit community is complemented by local landmarks such as The Forum and SoFi Stadium, which draw in both residents and visitors alike. Given the region's warm Mediterranean climate, reliable HVAC systems are essential for maintaining comfort throughout the year, especially during those hot summer months when temperatures can soar. Having a dependable heating and cooling system is crucial for Inglewood families to enjoy their homes year-round, making regular maintenance and timely repairs a priority for homeowners here.

Local HVAC Considerations:

Inglewood's microclimate is influenced by its proximity to the coast, which brings in a marine layer that can moderate temperatures but also lead to humidity. During the summer, the heat can be intense, making effective air conditioning vital. Conversely, during the cooler months, homes require efficient heating systems to combat chilly evenings. This unique climate pattern means that HVAC systems in Inglewood must be versatile and well-maintained to provide optimal comfort throughout the year.

Why Furnace Blowing Cold Air Happens to Inglewood Homes

A furnace that blows cold air isn't completing the heating cycle, leaving your home cold despite the system running. Inglewood homeowners experience this issue at a rate roughly proportional to housing age and climate exposure — older Inglewood homes (built before 1985) have a notably higher incidence than newer construction.

For cold air specifically, this matters because the climate determines how hard your system is being pushed when the failure occurs.

Older home, 1985 furnace

Original 1985 Lennox G14 — getting tough to find parts. They actually had the gas valve in stock at their warehouse on Crenshaw. Repair was solid, and they were upfront that this furnace is on borrowed time and quoted me a replacement to think about. No pressure. The repair held us through winter. Will probably hire them for the replacement next fall.

Solar-ready Lennox install

We've got 8.4 kW of solar — wanted a high-efficiency electric system to maximize our self-consumption. They installed a Lennox SL28XCV (28 SEER2 variable-speed) tied to a 2.5-ton CBA38MV air handler. Manual-J said 2.5 tons exactly; lots of installers would have oversized it. Energy bill is now genuinely net-zero in summer. Daniel did the consult himself.

Saved us during a 96° heatwave

Our 12-year-old Carrier Performance 16 quit on the hottest Saturday of August. Called at 2:14 pm, tech Marco was in our driveway near Sepulveda by 3:05 — under an hour. Diagnosed a failed dual-run capacitor (45/5 µF) in fifteen minutes, had the OEM part on the truck. Total visit was 90 minutes. He also flagged that our condenser fins were salt-pitted from the marine layer and showed me how to rinse them quarterly. Honest pricing, no upsell.

Third year on the maintenance plan

Been on their twice-yearly tune-up plan since 2022 — Lennox Elite 16ACX outside, EL296V furnace inside. They always text the day before, show up in the window, and email the report with static-pressure and refrigerant subcooling numbers. Last spring they caught a slow R-410A leak at the schrader valve before it turned into a $1,200 problem. Worth every dollar of the $189/year membership.

Honest diagnosis saved $7,650

Another company had quoted me $8,000 for a complete furnace replacement claiming a cracked heat exchanger. RedAlert sent a tech with a borescope camera, ran the unit, did a CO test in the supply plenum (came back at 0 ppm), and showed me on screen there was no crack — just a failed hot-surface ignitor. $350 part + labor and the 80% AFUE Goodman has been running clean for ten months. Will never call anyone else.

New 17 SEER2 install — solid work

Replaced a 19-year-old 10 SEER unit with a Carrier Performance 17 (3-ton) and matching evaporator coil. Crew did the manual-J load calc, oversized the line set by an inch, pulled a deep vacuum (500 microns held for 20 min — they showed me the gauge). Took a full day plus a return for permit close-out. Lost a star only because the original quote underestimated the disconnect-box upgrade by $180; they ate the difference without asking.
